The ICC World Cup is the trophy most cricketers aspire to win one day. They begin their careers hoping that one day, they will lift the world cup for their country and make everyone proud. Yes, the hype about the world cup is justified because it can bring a cricketing revolution to a country. The competition is so tough that most of the players fail to win it.

Australians have a knack for winning the world cup. With 5 trophies in their cabinet, they are one of the strongest teams in the competition. Captain Morgan had an excellent turnaround as he guided England to their maiden title in 2019. And M.S. Dhoni’s team won the world cup for India after 28 long years in 2011.

Another league that has been successful to have an impact is the IPL. The league is one of the most viewed in the world. And with every season, the competition increases. There are so many IPL heroes across teams. Some have been able to lift the world cup for their national teams, while some have failed. Hence, let’s take a look at-

1. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is the biggest name in the T20 format. Even after being at the back end of his career, he still can smash sixes at will. For RCB, he dominated every bowling attack. With the highest score of 175 in IPL, he is still an all-time great in the format.

Gayle is the perfect ambassador of T20 cricket. In 61 T20Is, he has scored 1656 runs at an average of 31.25. A brilliant strike rate of 140.82 in international T20s and 150.11 in the IPL means that no matter who the opposition is, the universe boss has always got the better of them. Gayle has scored six IPL centuries to date.

Currently, he is playing for the Punjab Kings. There too, he has been phenomenal. His presence led the way for a turnover last year as Punjab managed to get on a winning streak. But, Gayle has been unable to win a World Cup for the Windies. Well, a lack of a solid team is the main reason.
