Match 8 of the ongoing T20 Blast witnessed Lancashire and Yorkshire involved in an edge-of-the-seat thriller that not only went right down to the wire but also ended in a tie at Old Trafford in Manchester on May 27. While both teams put in their best efforts, neither of them came out on top. Meanwhile, a funny incident during the final over of the contest is what went on to become the center of attention.

All this happened when the Lancashire fielder Dane Vilas attempted a diving catch and in the process lost his trousers. The incident took place on the penultimate delivery of the contest with Yorkshire needing six runs to win. Richard Gleeson, who bowled that over, delivered a juicy high full toss and batter Shadab Khan failed to time the ball well as it went up in the air.

At one point, it seemed as if Vilas would be able to complete the catch, but that was not to be as he not only spilled it but his trousers also came down. The hilarious video was posted by Vitality Blast on their official Twitter handle.

Even the commentators were left in splits at Vilas’ hilarious yet unsuccessful attempt.”The catch goes down and he lost his trousers, Dane Vilas. It is all happening,” said one of the commentators.

Lancashire vs Yorkshire clash ends in a stalemate

Coming back to the contest, Lancashire scored 183/7 from their 20 overs riding on a splendid 41-ball 59 from opener Philip Salt and a vital knock of 35 runs off 18 deliveries from Tim David in the middle-order. Haris Rauf 2/39 and Jordan Thompson 2/44 starred in the wickets column for Yorkshire while Matthew Revis and Adil Rashid picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 50-ball 67 and 72 runs from 48 deliveries from Harry Brook brought Yorkshire closer to the target and they were in a commanding position in the final over with just 13 runs needed and six wickets in hand. However, the chasing team failed to get the job done despite Gleeson conceding 12 runs from the last over.
