MS Dhoni, on Saturday, August 15, on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, decided it to call it a day for the Men in Blue. He started playing way back in 2004 and his career for Team India spanned as many as 16 years. There was a time when the team was straining to find a proper wicketkeeper after which Dhoni came to the fore.

In his first match, the Jharkhand-born talent was run out by Khaled Mashud Pilot in the match against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. And in his final encounter for India, Martin Guptill dismissed him with a direct hit in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

MS Dhoni moves away

Two days ago, in the evening, Dhoni put forth a post on Instagram, talking about his retirement from the highest level. He uploaded a few pictures, showing the ups and downs of his glorious career. He kept the song ‘Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hu’ in the background. The post made his fans and well-wishers nostalgic.

In the meantime, Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), had some words of appreciation for the 39-year-old. She also thanked Dhoni for the incredible memories.

She took to Twitter and wrote, “The Helicopter has landed but the ride will be unforgettable. Thank you @msdhoni for all the incredible memories. You are and always will be the coolest one. Wish you all the best in life #Captaincool #Legend #India’sfinest #ting.”

Dhoni will next be plying his trade in the 2020 IPL, representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He will be playing alongside Suresh Raina, who also hanged his boots from Team India. Raina has played plenty of cricket under Dhoni, both for India and in the Super Kings. It’s not a surprise that he has massive respect for the veteran.

As far as Zinta is concerned, she will be hoping for his IPL team to do well. In the last two seasons, KXIP couldn’t qualify for the playoffs and will be looking to make amends.
