The Hundred: Southern Brave rope in Quinton de Kock and Devon Conway as replacements of David Warner and Marcus Stoinis

If there is one tournament that had already made much hype in the cricketing world, it has to be The Hundred. The new 100 ball format game has been proposed by ECB and will its opening season, commencing on July 21, 2021. Many big names have already been roped in by different teams for the league. However, David Warner and Marcus Stoinis stated earlier that they won’t be available for the tournament.
The Australian stars announced their absence from the Hundred owing to conflicting schedules and travel challenges especially in the time of COVID-19. However, the club Southern Brave has already signed in their replacements and Quinton de Kock and Devon Conway would be joining the team as their replacements. Quinton de Kock has been a great name for South African cricket, on the other hand, Conway announced his arrival in international cricket recently in a great manner.
“Australian players David Warner and Marcus Stoinis, who have had to pull out due to conflicting schedules and travel challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said the club in a release.
“While we are disappointed that David Warner and Marcus Stoinis will not be available for our men’s team, we are delighted to welcome both Devon and Quinton to the side. They are both quality cricketers who will add power and excitement up the top of the order for us,” said Giles White, Southern Brave General Manager.
Devon Conway happy to be part of The Hundred
Talking of Devon Conway, he smashed a double century in his Test debut against England only a few days back. He averages 59 in T20Is and 75 in ODIs for the Blackcaps. He expressed great pleasure in his joining with Brave. On the other hand, De Kock will have an association with Mahela Jayawardene again who is the head coach of Southern Brave.
“I’m really excited to have joined Southern Brave. I have really enjoyed my time playing in the UK so far, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with the team and taking part in the first season of The Hundred,” said Conway as quoted by Cricbuzz.
