Amid lockdown, cricketers have introduced a new trend of interacting with their teammates in live sessions on social media platforms. On Saturday evening, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was also spotted doing the same and he was involved in a live candid session with Indian dashing opener Rohit Sharma. In the meantime, the Indian pacer made some shocking revelation that in 2018 he had thought of committing suicide three times due to some personal family problems.

Earlier in 2018, Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had accused him and his brother for domestic violence. Moreover, she claimed that the pacer was having an extramarital affair. As soon as this news hit the headlines, BCCI dropped him from their central contract list in 2018. Later on, he was given clean chit from the cricket board after investigating the whole case.

Mohammed Shami makes some surprising revelations

During the live session on Instagram, Shami said that if his family had not supported him in 2018 then he would have lost the game and his life. The pacer also recalled that at that time he was living with his family on the 24th floor and everyone was scared if he jumps from the balcony. As per him, at that time, some friends used to stay with him for his protection. He cited that each and every member of his family asked him to just focus on cricket instead of anything else.

“I think if my family had not supported me back then, I would have lost my cricket. I thought of committing suicide three times during that period due to severe stress and personal problems. I was not thinking about cricket at all. We were living on the 24th floor. They (family) were scared I might jump from the balcony. My brother supported me a lot. My 2-3 friends used to stay with me for 24 hours. My parents asked me to focus on cricket to recover from that phase and not think about anything else. I started training then and sweated it out a lot at an academy in Dehradun,” Shami told Rohit Sharma during the Instagram session.

He recited that in 2015 he sustained a painful fracture and it took him almost 18 months to make his way back into cricket. After that, he went through some personal problems due to which he thought of committing suicide three times.

“When I got injured in the 2015 World Cup, after that it took me 18 months to fully recover, that was the most painful moment in my life, it was a very stressful period. When I started playing again, I had to go through some personal issues, I think if my family did not support me I would not have made it, I also thought of committing suicide three times,” Shami added.
