Three members of the Pakistan women’s cricket team have tested positive for Covid-19. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement on Thursday, October 28 to announce the same. The team had gathered at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi for their preparatory camp ahead of their ODI series against the West Indies.

The three players returned with positive tests whilst the routine testing that was conducted on Wednesday. However, PCB hasn’t announced the names of the players. They have been asked to undergo a ten-day quarantine that would end on November 6.

Under the Covid-19 protocols, the remaining squad has been put into short isolation too until November 2. They will have to undergo a test on every alternative day. Before entering into the bio-bubble for the camp all the players had been vaccinated in May.

Pakistan will host West Indies for three ODIs

West Indies Women are all set to tour Pakistan for the ODI series against them. The two teams are scheduled to lock horns with each other for three ODIs. The matches are expected to be held from November 8 to 14. However, the games are staged to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Previously in the year, Pakistan had toured West Indies for three T20Is and five ODIs. The Cricket West Indies CEO had earlier stated that the team’s visit to Pakistan will be a great preparatory measure for the team ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers that are set to begin on November 21. He also stated that the security to be provided by Pakistan is of the same level as it was when the teams had last toured the country in 2018.

“This reciprocal tour to Pakistan is an important part of our preparation plans ahead of the World Cup qualifying tournament that is scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe in mid-November. This tour to Pakistan will give the team the chance to play in different conditions compared to the Caribbean and have more high-level competitive cricket ahead of aiming to secure one of the three qualifying spots available for the Women’s Cricket World Cup next year,” Johnny Grave, Cricket West Indies’ CEO had earlier said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
