With Tendulkar making his international debut quite early, he certainly owned most of the World Cup records as he managed to be part of six ICC World Cup tournaments until the title-winning campaign in 2011. The right-hander holds the record for the most runs in World Cups with 2278 runs and has got the most number of centuries and fifties to his name.

Only, Pakistan’s Javed Miandad has also played six World Cups apart from Tendulkar, but he wasn’t as successful as the latter. Tendulkar was part of the 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 World Cup for India and he came close to winning it in 2003 under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly until India lost to Australia in the finals.

Despite all, Tendulkar missed out on the record for the most number of appearances in the World Cup as Australia’s Ricky Ponting had played 46 games, one more than Tendulkar. Ponting was part of three World Cup winning campaigns in 1999, 2003, and 2007 while he played his last World Cup game against India in 2011 where he scored a stunning century.
