'Thrilled'- Sourav Ganguly announces his biopic to be produced by Luv Ranjan

Sourav Ganguly has lived a wonderful life. He has had a journey full of ups and downs. He was made the Indian captain in 2000 and some account his arrival to the captaincy as a turning point in Indian cricket. After his retirement, he stayed relevant with huge stardom and now serves as the BCCI President. 

Now, this is one hell of a life. Add to the fact, he came to captaincy after a fixing row and was dignified being an Indian captain. He was dropped from the national team and then made a heroic comeback. And then, was in charge of the Bengal Cricket Association when he was called up to fill in the BCCI’s president’s role, the narrative is accurate for a big Bollywood movie. 

That is exactly what renowned film producer Luv Ranjan thought and now is all set to produce a biopic on the former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly. There were some rumors emerging from all corners about this biopic but it was finally confirmed by the man himself. On Thursday, September 9, Ganguly announced from his official Twitter profile about the biopic.

“Cricket has been my life, it gave me confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen 🏏🎥 @LuvFilms @luv_ranjan @gargankur @DasSanjay1812,” Ganguly wrote on the tweet. 

Ganguly’s story deserved a retelling. He has been one of the biggest cricket icons of Indian cricket since the turn of the century and managed to give his all for the betterment of Indian cricket. A sneak peek at his numbers will easily tell how successful he was on the field. He has scored over 18,000 international runs for India and captained them in 195 international games, winning 97 of them. 

Apart from this, he donned several roles as a cricket administrator, mentor to a cricket team, and commentator as well. Since 2019, he has been overseeing Indian cricket, and now his story will be seen on screen. For now, the actor to play his character has not been revealed but the announcement on that will also be made soon.
