The inception of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 gave birth to a lot of cultures in cricket which attracted a lot of ire from a lot of people. After match parties was one of them when the cricketers and the owners used to celebrate the victories. The introduction of cheerleaders in the game was also a hot topic at the start which was enjoyed by the spectators a lot. However, during the second season of the T20 extravaganza, the sister of a legendary South African cricketer was a cheerleader for Chennai Super Kings.

Cheerleaders are known to greet every match with their dancing moves. Whatever happens in the match, they are expected to entertain the spectators to keep them engaged. While a lot of people enjoyed their introduction, few felt that there was no need of cheerleaders as it could mar the image of the game.

Who is the cricketer?

Janice Kallis, the sister of Jacques Kallis, the legendary South African all-rounder, was the cheerleader of Chennai Super Kings during the second edition of IPL. This would’ve been a shock for anyone given that her brother was also part of the league playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Janice also might have danced wearing the skimpy outfit when the wicket of Jacques was fell in front of more than 20,000 people. However, she did her job with utmost professionalism as she liked doing the same.

Even Jacques Kallis was not flustered about the same and was proud of his sister Janice. “Since she was a kid, Janice was interested in dancing. She’s got an opportunity with Chennai Super Kings and she’s doing the family proud. Well, she danced awesomely when I got out against Chennai. I will make sure I’ll be extra careful when I play against Chennai again,” he had said according to Ahmedabad Mirror.
