Online ticket sales for defending champions Mumbai Indians opening IPL game at Vishakapatnam, against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 8, commenced on Thursday. The tickets for the game, priced between Rs 400 and Rs 1,250, can be purchased online through www.bookmyshow.com and www.mumbaiindians.com or at the box office counter at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vishakapatnam, a media release said.
MI are scheduled to play their three remaining home matches, shifted out of the Wankhede Stadium, against SRH (4:00 pm; May 8), Kings XI Punjab (8:00 pm; May 13) and Delhi Daredevils (8:00 pm; May 15). These games were shifted out of Maharashtra on the directive of the Bombay High Court that ruled on a PIL filed vis-a-vis the acute water scarcity faced by some parts of the state.
MI recently brought the curtains down on Maharashtra Day, May 1, with an 8-wicket win over Rising Pune Supergiants at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Skipper Rohit Sharma’s fourth half-century in a successful chase this season – an unbeaten 60-ball 85 – helped make light work of a 160-run target and sealed Mumbai’s fifth win with nine balls to spare. Rohit completed the job that was set up by Mumbai’s bowlers, who conceded only 66 in the second half of Supergiants’ innings after Steven Smith and Saurabh Tiwary had hit the ball all over the ground in a swift second-wicket stand of 84.
The team has 10 points from 9 matches with 5 wins. After a slow start to the competition, Mumbai has found the right combinations and grown in confidence. The recent performances of their experienced players have been encouraging as MI look to continue their charge for an unprecedented 3rd IPL title.
