TNPL announces trading window before the start of season 4

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association meeting on June 18 has shed light on many new innovations that the upcoming fourth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) will see before it begins. The association has announced that a new pre-season trading window will be introduced before the tournament begins.

TNPL season four will begin on July 19 and the final is scheduled for August 18 and will be played across three venues in the state. Apart from confirming the dates, the TNCA also gave details on the changes that will take place before the season begins. Out of the three venues, N. P. R. College Ground in Nadam, Dindigul and the IC Ground in Tirunelveli have been confirmed where the matches will be organized.

Pre-season TNPL draft to take place on July 4

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has announced a pre-season window for trading players which will open on June 19 and will remain open for 11 days until June 29. The trading window will enable franchises to deal a maximum of three players each and the team must have between 12-22 players in their squad including two players from respective districts. The time period for new players’ registrations will commence on June 20 and ends on June 29.

The teams will also have the option to release their players, who will go into the draft pool with the TNPL player draft will happen on July 4. The mandatory under-19 player clause has been removed from 2019 season. Apart from these changes, TNPL also revealed that this season, they have decided to give 20% participation fee as against 10% last year on the Franchisee fee.

The net central right to the last placed team has been upped to around INR 59 lakhs as well. The schedule of the league, which will feature 32 matches will be released at a later date.

These changes have made the regional T20 league prospectively a more interesting tournament as it has seen many foreign international players commentate in matches and even Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin will feature for the Dindigul Dragons franchise.
