India head coach Ravi Shastri is ecstatic about what his team achieved in the Lord’s Test match against England on Tuesday (August 16). The visitors came from behind and registered a victory by a margin of 151 runs on day five of the second Test match. Often the batters hog the limelight of many of India’s victories on the overseas shores, but this time it was the turn of the bowlers to step and be counted in bowling as well as in the batting department.

First Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah put on a stand worth 89 runs for the ninth wicket and then they came all guns blazing to dismantle the England batting line up for just 120 runs. Siraj picked up eight wickets in the match and was well supported by Shami, Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma who continuously kept the pressure on English batters.

Coach Shastri was pleased by the efforts put in by the boys and took to Twitter to share a special message for the team. ‘It’s a special feeling to win at Lord’s as a coach and a player. The coach asked all t ‘enjoy the moment’.

Apart from the Indian coach, several former players and experts also lauded the performance of India. Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Virender Sehwag were few legendary cricketers who were seen lavish in praise of the team.

Ramiz Raja effusive in praise of the Indian bowling attack

India skipper Virat Kohli struck with a bold template of going with four pacers and only one spinner and, that plan worked well for Kohli. Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja is impressed by the display of India’s pacers and lauded their efforts with the bat in hand.

“There’s no better bowling attack than India’s at the moment in Test cricket. There were times when India used to dominate with their spin bowling, but those days are gone now. Shami played his career-best knock with the bat. Siraj has a lot of hunger just like Virat Kohli. Whenever he gets the ball in his hand, he changes the game upside down. He made a good name in Test cricket very early in his career.”

“Team India is completely a different side now. This victory is totally Virat Kohli’s. His huddle before going into the fourth innings was pretty positive. They bundled out England in just two sessions,” he added.
