Sam Curran is currently enjoying all the limelight after winning the Man of the Match award in one of the best Edgbaston Tests for all-round heroics against India. He is only 20 years old and is being tipped to become one of the best all-rounders for his country. His brother, Tom Curran, on the other hand, is playing in the ongoing T20 Blast for Surrey. He was part of the game against Somerset last night in Taunton where the crowd reportedly taunted him as ‘poor man’s Sam’.

Tom made his debut for England during the ODI series down under last year and did well by taking a five-wicket haul. The selectors were keen to retain him for the series against India but he was ruled out of the white-ball summer for England due to the left side strain. After being fit, he is playing for Surrey in the T20 Blast and is faring decently.

Tom Curran was utterly disappointed with the way he was taunted by the Somerset crowd during the game in Taunton. Though his team lost while defending the total of 176 runs, his own performance was good enough. The youngster scored 21 off 12 balls with the bat and then picked a couple of crucial wickets to return with the figures of 2/32 in his four overs.

Somerset gunned down the total with 7 balls to spare thanks to the efforts from Peter Trego and Corey Anderson. After the loss, Curran took to his official Twitter handle and lashed out at the crowd who didn’t behave well with him on the night. He termed it as a complete embarrassment to Somerset County Club whose players are great men.

“Comfortably the worst crowd I’ve ever experienced today. A complete embarrassment to Somerset CCC and all their players (who played a great game and are very good men). A bunch of peasants setting a terrible example for the many young kids I saw in the crowd today. Such a shame!” he tweeted.

However, he was quick to delete it as well but it had gone viral by then and one can understand his frustration for being taunted for his brother’s success which is not at all fair on him.
