Sehwag and Tendulkar opened in World Cup 2003 after the experiment of Tendulkar at no.4 and Ganguly and Sehwag opening failed. Sehwag and Tendulkar  added 153 runs for the opening stand against Sri Lanka, while the team made 292. Tendulkar made 97 and Sehwag scored 66 runs.

Ajay Jadeja opened for India in the 1996 World Cup and added 163 runs with Sachin for opening stand against Kenya in 1996 World Cup. Sachin scored a brilliant 127 not out and Jadeja made 53 chasing 199.

Indian openers in this ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the left hander Shikhar Dhawan and the lazily elegant Rohit Sharma added 174 runs against Ireland in the league match. Dhawan made a 100 and Sharma scored 64 runs as India chased down 259 runs without much a do.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 the  Indian team playing its last league match against Zimbabwe were under pressure when MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina walked in to the middle and added 196* chasing 287 runs. Both came in at 92/4 and remained unbeaten adding 196 runs. Raina made 110* and Dhoni 85*. India won the match by 6 wickets. 

5. Sourav Ganguly, Vireder Sehwag 202 v Bermuda 2007:

Kenya responded by making 235 runs and India won by 94 runs.
