Mr. Cricket Michael Hussey set to create history:

  • Michael Hussey has been named the captain of the Prime Minister’s XI for the tour match against New Zealand in October at Manuka Oval ahead of the historic day-night Test match in Adelaide on November 27. The Kiwis will get a chance to prepare for that Test with a one-day match against a Hussey led side that will be played with a pink ball in Canberra. The day-night Test will be the third of a three-Test series on Australian soil this summer and the first to be played under lights with a pink Kookaburra ball.

KL Rahul’s century makes it even stevens:

  • India 319 for 6 (Rahul 108, Rohit 79, Kohli 78, Prasad 2-72, Herath 2-73) v Sri Lanka.

Fifth Test could end within three days: Clarke:

  • “The pitch The Oval has prepared for the fifth Test is the greenest I’ve seen this entire series, and I believe there’s every chance we could see a third consecutive match finish inside three days,” Clarke said in a column for the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

Pakistan cricket divided over the return of the blemished trio in the side:

  • Recently the International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced that the Pakistani trio of Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif can return to competitive cricket as soon as their ban expires. Their ban will expire at midnight on 1 September 2015.
  • But former Pakistan cricketers are all divided and with varied opinions on whether the trio should be allowed to play again for Pakistan or not.

England cricketers sketch to raise charity funds and celebrate United Cricket day:

  • The England cricketers have now resorted to pencil, colours and paper sketching the caricatures of each other describing the best moments of Ashes 2005-2015 for one another. The sketches are being drawn in order to raise funds for UK’s leading charities Lord’s Taverners, Chance to Shine and PC Benevolent Fund, whose aim is to improve lives through cricket.

BCCI working group report on the future of CSK and RR in IPL ready:

  • After the verdict of 2013 IPL-spot fixing saga, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had formed a working group to study the Lodha Panel verdict. The group consisting of BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly board’s legal counsel Usha Nath Banerjee, IPL COO Sundar Raman and BCCI’s anti-corruption unit chief Neeraj Kumar compiled all the suggestions from the stakeholders and have prepared their final report.

BCCI plans to have separate coaches for Test and limited overs:

  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to have two separate coaches for the Indian side, each for the Tests and limited over format. The secretary of the BCCI, Anurag Thakur first revealed that a coach would be appointed before the series against South Africa which is to begin in October, but according to the ESPNcricinfo the coaching responsibilities may split for different formats.

  • Dhammika, who extracted some seam movement early on day one to give Sri Lanka a flying start told reporters, “I am looking forward to doing big things here [P. Sara Oval]. I really enjoy playing at the P Sara. When I last played here in the Pakistan series, I was Man of the Match..”

Shane Bond joins Daniel Vettori as Brisbane Heat coaching staff:

  • It was confirmed that former New Zealand pace spearhead Shane Bond will be joining Brisbane Heat as an assistant coach on Thursday.
  • Bond will link with head coach and former teammate Daniel Vettori, who was confirmed as Stuart Law’s replacement in April.

  • “I am delighted to announce Adam Gilchrist as the first Australia-India Education Ambassador,” Minister for Education and Training Christopher Pyne said.

BCCI firm on DRS stance; refuses to budge:

  • BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur has said there is no change in the Board’s position on opposing the Decision Review System (DRS).
  • “BCCI’s (technical committee chairman) Anil Kumble and others had gone to the US to look at the system and see if we can improve it further,” Thakur said. “I think there are areas where we can look at and improve it to the next level. If that is possible, the options are never closed.”
