Since the time Shikhar Dhawan’s injury prompted Virat Kohli to send KL Rahul to open the batting during the world cup 2019, the Karnataka player has been having the time of his life. He performed well at the world with a few fifties and a hundred to his name. After the tournament, he kept scoring big while opening the innings in T20Is and ODIs.
But then came a freakish injury to Rishabh Pant which made Kohli take a chance of offering the wicket-keeping gloves to Rahul. He took the opportunity with both hands but what followed was another surprising change. Rahul was shifted to the No.5 position and the batsman has been flourishing at the position since then.
He even got a century against New Zealand batting at that position. India skipper Virat Kohli has already it clear that for Rahul will continue as the keeper-batsman in the one-day side.

By now, Rahul would have been in the middle of his first season as the captain of an IPL franchise. Ahead of this year’s IPL season, he was announced as the captain of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) side. However, due to the coronavirus threat and delay at the start of the season, the Bangalore boy will have to wait a little longer for his IPL captaincy debut.
On April 18, Rahul was celebrating his birthday. As the country is under lockdown, one of his closest friends decided to make him feel special on this day via a post on social media. Actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor took to Instagram to share an adorable message for her friend and Indian cricketer KL Rahul.
She uploaded, what seems to be an old picture of hers with the cricketer. The picture contained a polaroid in which Rahul can be seen with her. The two share great chemistry with each other and are quite close friends. Through the caption, she wished him a happy birthday referring to him as her best friend. The caption of the post was, “happy birthday best friend it’s been an honour and a pleasure wuvles you #TumMeraDostHo.”
