His former opening partner and currently a politician — Gautam Gambhir — is known for such charity. And now, Virender Sehwag has decided to do something similar. The former dashing India opener took on Twitter on Wednesday to share a photo. The children of two Indian soldiers who were martyred in a suicide attack in Pulwama in February were being trained at his school in it.

It may be mentioned here that in February this year — days after the dastardly attacks — Virender Sehwag had announced in a tweet that he was taking care of the educational needs of the martyred victims’ children. The Twitterati was full of praise for the Nawab of Najafgarh for his noble initiative and applauded him.

Over 40 CRPF personnel were martyred when a suicide bomber of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) rammed into their convoy to blow away their bus. The incident led to serious repercussions on India’s bilateral relations with Pakistan. There were even air skirmishes between the two neighbours.

The Indian Air Force had made pre-dawn strike across the LoC and Virender Sehwag, in his natural witty style, applauded the Indian forces saying: “The boys have played really well”. The reaction against the Pulwama attack was so intense.

There were calls to boycott India’s game with the arch-rivals in the ICC World Cup in England in June. However, India did not boycott the match eventually and thrashed the Pakistanis in a rain-curtailed affair.

Virender Sehwag praises Ganguly’s becoming BCCI president, says ‘great signs’

He will turn 41 in four days and is known for his funny takes on social media. He recently applauded the move to make former India captain Sourav Ganguly as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and said it marked “great signs” for Indian cricket.

Virender Sehwag had made his strides in international cricket under Ganguly in the early 2000s. And he still exhibits respect for the man whenever he gets the opportunity.

Here are some of the reactions that the Twitterati came up with over Sehwag’s noble initiative:
