Twitter Reaction: Cheteshwar Pujara leads gritty Indian fightback

Cheteshwar Pujara led the fightback for the Indians on the day as the Indians went ahead and impressed with some impressive batting acumen. The England spinners simply could not do much with either the new or the old ball as they conceded a plethora of runs on the day, something that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli would be pleased with.
The Indians got off to a poor start in the morning session when Gautam Gambhir was dismissed to a peach of a delivery from Stuart Broad. However, what prevailed following the dismissal was the fantastic batting from both Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara. It was a particularly emotional time for Pujara given the fact that this was his home ground, a place he had grown up playing cricket.
However, things only got better for the Indians when Pujara successfully appealed for the DRS when he was dismissed leg-before by Zafar Ansari. This enabled him to reach a well-deserved half-century, something that was played in trying conditions at Rajkot. Pujara’s partner in crime of sorts was the impressive Murali Vijay.
The 32-year old Indian opener batted the entire day’s length and looked completely at ease as he did. Of course, his over rate was much slower than rocks weathering, but, he added a few big hits in between to help himself to yet another Test match century. Moreover, he picked the spinners who were seemingly getting little or no help from the wicket.

At the close of play, the Indians were on top and just a few 200 runs shy from the first innings total set aside by the England batsmen in the first innings. Although the match is tending towards a draw at the moment, it is clear that the 5-match series has been opened up quite nicely, to say the least.

A seventh Test hundred for Vijay, exactly the kind of man you need at the crease while trying to whittle away at 537. Well played. #IndvsEng
