Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif turned 36 on December 1. He has been an inspiration for a generation of young cricketers in India. During his playing days, Kaif was one the most electrifying fielders to have played for the country. He formed a formidable partnership with Yuvraj Singh when it came to ground fielding.

It was his high standards that motivated the generation next to take fielding very seriously. Mohammad Kaif set very high benchmarks with his diving and sliding work. No wonder why he is still regarded as one of the best in the business. Having played for India for almost half a decade, Kaif was a handy middle-order batsman too.

His most memorable knock has to be the one in the Natwest tri-series finals. When India were down and out, it was Kaif and Yuvraj who led India to a historic 2 wicket win at the Lord’s. Despite losing Yuvraj towards the end, he continued to play and took India to the victory.

On the occasion of his 36th birthday, the cricket fraternity wished him on the social media. While Virender Sehwag hogged all the limelight with his tweet, there were others who wished him too. His former teammates and colleagues made sure that their well wishes were on the cards for Mohammad Kaif.

On his birthday, Sehwag compared Kaif who was a live-wire on the field with a bird and asked him whether he is a man or a kite? The former dashing opener wrote, “Udja Kale Kawan Tere Moowich Khandpaanwa”,@ Mohammad Kaif tuk dis song seriously&kept flying kahin bhi.#HappyBirthdayKaif,R u Man or Kite?

Sachin Tendulkar also wished him on the occasion. He rightly remembered the glorious Natwest knock. A very polite Kaif responded with grace and thanked the legend. Harbhajan Singh was quick to follow too as he sent his good wishes for the former Indian cricketer. Here are some of the best tweets on Mohammad Kaif’s birthday:
