India U19 and Sri Lanka are currently playing an unofficial Test at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo. The home team scored 244 runs in 70.3 overs. Arjun Tendulkar made his U19 debut in the match and also picked up his first wicket in the form of Kamil Mishara. He trapped the left-handed batsman plumb in front of the stumps. He ended with a spell of 11 overs and 33 runs.

However, he couldn’t pick up another wicket in the rest of the innings. Pasindu Sooriyabandara, the right-handed batsman, scored 69 runs from 134 balls and helped his team to the decent score. India racked up 589 runs in 134.5 overs courtesy of a couple of stupendous centuries from Atharwa Taide and Ayush Badoni. Most importantly, they took a lead of 345 runs.

Tendulkar perishes cheaply

Badoni top-scored for them with 185 runs from 205 balls, a knock which included 19 boundaries and four sixes. Half-centuries from skipper Anuj Rawat and Nehal Wadhera also helped their team to clinch the ascendancy. Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar couldn’t make an impact with the willow either. He’s the bowling all-rounder and wasn’t expected to churn out anything special with the willow.

However, being the son of the enigmatic Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary batsman, the focus was going to be on him as a batsman as well. He came to bat at number nine and wasn’t able to open his account in eleven balls. Left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan accounted for his wicket.

Arjun tried to churn out the forward -defensive stroke and inside-edged the leather into the palms of Sooriyabandara. He went back dejected and the Lankans erupted in joy.
