As Bangladesh and Zimbabwe came head to head at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the crowd witnessed an exciting game. The hosts managed to pull off a sensational victory as they defended a total of 216. The bowlers put up a wonderful performance.
Having elected to bat first, Bangladesh lost Anamul Haque early. However, opener Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan batted exceedingly well. Both combined for a 106-run partnership for the second wicket. While Tamim Iqbal scored a brilliant 76, Shakib also brought up his fifty.
In the process, Tamim also completed 6000 runs in ODIs. Bangladesh seemed to be at comfort before a collapse in their batting ranks put them on the backfoot. From 147/2, the hosts slid to 170/8. Skipper Graeme Cremer took four wickets as Zimbabwe staged a wonderful fightback.
The Bangladeshi team somehow managed to post 216/9 in their quota of 50 overs. On the other hand, Zimbabwe were off to a poor start. They were left reeling at 34/4 as the top order failed to apply themselves once again. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
The likes of Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire and Craig Ervine didn’t get going. Brendan Taylor who has been rather consistent with the bat in the series disappointed as he bagged a golden duck. Sikandar Raza and Cremer tried to put up some fight, but their stay at the crease didn’t last long enough.
The Zimbabwe batting order was bundled for a total of 125 runs. Bangladesh won by an astounding margin of 91 runs. Shakib got three wickets as he was the pick amongst the bowlers. The trio of Mashrafe Mortaza, Sunzamul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman grabbed a couple of wickets each.
Tamim was awarded the Man of the Match for his amazing batting performance. With this win, Bangladesh have entered the finals of the Tri-series. As for Zimbabwe, their fate depends upon the result of the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka game. Twitter went from lauding Tamim and Shakib Al Hasan to trolling the batting collapses of both the teams.

Masakadza gone. Out of form Craig Ervine walks in at 3. He's batting for his place in the XI, his teammates, country and for my eyebrows. #BanvZim

#BANvZIM Zimbabwe"s batting has been so terrible, especially the top batting order, you would swear that they were not taught basic cricket.
— mbonicy sibanda (@young_mbonicy) January 23, 2018
So either @Dobie_M draws fake eyebrows or we get Vusi Sibanda on the show being grilled by Lizwe. We know who we are backing #BANvZIM

Zimbabwe will win this. I'm so confident in my team that if they fail to chase 216 runs inside 45 overs I'm shaving off my eyebrows and drawing them back on! #BANvZIM
