Having started the day at 152/3 with Imrul Kayes unbeaten on 59, Bangladesh had a lead of 128 runs. Shakib Al Hasan joined Kayes and the duo went about business in the first session of the day but after adding 48 runs to the team total the opener fell to Moeen Ali on the individual score of 78. Shakib too walked back to the pavilion in a short while after scoring 41 runs as he failed to read an Adil Rashid delivery and it found its way into his stumps.
There was no real contribution from the lower order apart from Shuvagata Hom’s 25 and the English bowlers led by leg-spinner Rashid managed to bowl out Bangladesh for 296 runs. The hosts had an overall lead of 272 runs which was never going to be an easy target in the fourth inning and though it was just the 3rd day of the Test match given the way the wicket behaved, the quality in Bangladeshi spin bowling attack and the lack of it in England’s batting suggested it would be an improbable task for the visitors.
The English opening duo of skipper Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett were certain they weren’t going to give it to the hosts this time. They defied the Bangladeshi spinners for a good 23 overs and in the mean time also getting to their individual half centuries while the team total also got into triple figures which put them in a really good position and Mushfiqur Rahim was forced to think. But that was just when Mehedi Hasan drew first blood. The young spinner had Dukett cleaned up on the first ball of the 24th over for 56.
Joe Root lasted just four deliveries and was picked by the other spinner Shakib. Cook stood his ground while wickets leaked at the other end. And once Mehedi had the English skipper’s wicket Bangladesh knew they could well wrap up the game soon and that is what exactly happened. Mehedi once again picked a five-wicket haul the second for him in this match and the third of his career and bettered it with another wicket which crushed the English side.

We'll get stuffed in India at this rate. Pietersen remains a magnificent player of spin. Just end the political crap & bring him back. #eng

The just concluded 2 match Test series btw #BanvEng is the perfect example as to why all Test series must compulsorily be at least 3 Tests!

This #BANvENG has probably been the best Test series in recent times. Maybe the BCCI were right to oppose the 2 Tier system 😛
