The much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan got underway on Sunday (October 23). The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and had no hesitation to field first in overcast conditions. Melbourne witnessed a lot of rain in the lead up to the encounter and the rain gods just relented on the match day for the proceedings to go ahead. However, the conditions suited perfectly for the new ball to move around prodigiously.

And this is what India's new ball bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh did. They didn't give any room to the Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan who were caught napping against the moving ball. Arshdeep, in particular, was exceptional even as he had pinned Pakistan skipper Babar in front of the stumps off his very first ball.

It was a length delivery from the left-arm seamer that swung in to hit Babar on his front pad and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger. Even the hawkeye confirmed that the ball was hitting and Babar had to walk back for a golden duck.

Arshdeep gets the better of Rizwan

It was a high-class spell of swing bowling from Arshdeep Singh especially who seemed literally unplayable. The bowler kept Rizwan on the tenterhooks during the second over of his spell taking the ball away from him. The batter survived a close catching chance as well with Virat Kohli reaching the ball a second late. However, off the very next delivery, Arshdeep bowled a well-directed bouncer.

It led to Rizwan pulling only for the ball to end it into the hands of Bhuvi at the fine leg position. Pakistan bank on their openers in T20Is the most and like they did in the last edition, many hopes were pinned on the duo against India. But this time around, Arshdeep Singh delivered a masterclass with the ball to leave the arch-rivals reeling early in the innings.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Arshdeep Singh's spell:
