Flamboyant Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli was sent packing by Rajasthan Royals (RR) speedster Trent Boult for a first-ball duck during the clash. Notably, the two franchises have locked horns at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 23.
Sanju Samson, the skipper of the Royals, won the toss and elected to field first. Notably, Kohli shouldered the responsibility of leading the side for the second game in a row. Additionally, the stand-in captain made his return as the leader of the franchise at home after a gap of 1,450 days.
Playing against the Royals, RCB donned the green outfit in support of the ‘Go Green initiative. Speaking about the match, Trent Boult snapped a wicket on the very first ball of the contest as he sent Kohli packing for a nought.
Boult pitched it up and got some movement to swing it in to trap Kohli for a first-ball duck. In doing so, the left-arm seamer claimed his 100th wicket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Impressively, Boult also recorded the most wickets taken in the first over in the IPL since the start of 2020 in the match against GT on Sunday, April 16.
The Royals pacer tops the charts with a humongous 21 wickets in the first over in the league. On the other hand, Boult leads the list by a huge margin as the second-best by any bowler is five wickets.
For the uninitiated, Kohli registered a first-ball duck in the 2022 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (match 54), donning the Green jersey. Prior to this, Kohli registered four half-centuries in six outings and collected 279 runs under his belt.
Speaking about their campaign thus far, RCB are placed sixth in the points table, with three wins and as many losses. The side emerged victorious in their last outing against Punjab Kings, comfortably winning the tie by 24 runs.
