West Indies and Australia have locked horns in the second of the two-match Test series at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. On Day 2, the Aussies posted a total of 511 runs for the loss of seven wickets just prior to declaring the innings.

Stand-in skipper Steve Smith was dismissed for a duck on Day 1 by Jason Holder which saw the coming of Travis Head down the middle-order. The duo of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne proved to be lethal for the Windies as they took the visitors by storm with their centuries.

Labuschagne scored 163 runs from 305 balls while Travis 175 runs from 219 deliveries before getting run out by Devon Thomas. Despite the Aussies dominating for a major part of the innings, Windies pacer Alzarri Joseph and debutant Devon Thomas racked up two wickets each with the ball.

Australia aim to clinch the series

Sheer dominance has been displayed by the Australian contingent against the visitors at the Adelaide Oval. After skipper Steve Smith decided to declare the innings, the Windies set foot on the field to kickstart their batting innings.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite opened the innings with young lad Tagenarine Chanderpaul for the Windies in the contest on Day 2. The skipper began his innings playing delicately but could not keep up with the Australian side as he was dismissed early on for just 19 runs from 48 balls.

On the other hand, Tagenarine kept rotating the strike and carved out a decent innings as he scored an unbeaten 47 runs and is on course for his second half-century. Michael Neser racked up two wickets for the side coupled with Cameron Green who broke the 40-run partnership between Tagenarine and Devon Thomas. West Indies concluded Day 2 having scored 102 runs on the scoreboard with the loss of four wickets. The visitors now trail by 409 runs in the Pink-Ball Test match in Adelaide.
