Pakistan continued their dominance over Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup as they beat them by six wickets on Tuesday, October 10 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique starred with the bat with their stupendous centuries helping their side chase down the highest target in the history of the ODI World Cup of 345.

The Babar Azam-led side didn’t get off to the best of the starts as they lost their opener Imam ul Haq (12 off 12) in the fourth over of the innings. Pakistan were further brought down to their knees as captain Babar once again departed cheaply after scoring 10 (15). Seeing their team in trouble, Abdullah Shafique (113 off 103) and Mohammad Rizwan stitched a massive 176-run stand off 155 balls. Following Shafique’s dismissal, Rizwan took the onus upon himself to take his side home and played a scintillating innings of 134 off 121 balls smashing nine fours and three sixes.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they ended up losing their opener Kusal Perera in just the second over for a four-ball duck. His partner Pathum Nissanka carried the innings ahead with his splendid fifty (51 off 61) and added 102 runs for the third wicket with Kusal Mendis.

Their partnership was broken by Shadab Khan who got rid of Nissanka, however, Mendis continued to take on Pakistan's bowling attack and scored a breathtaking hundred (122 off 77).
