Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings met again in the 13th match of the SA20 League. In less than 24 hours of their previous fixture against each other, the two sides locked horns at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. After clinching a victory against the same opponents, a day before, the Super Kings could not do much this time around as the Capitals settled with a comprehensive victory.

Pretoria Capitals won the toss and put Joburg Super Kings to bat first. Eathan Bosch got the new ball talking and handed his side a major breakthrough by dismissing Reeza Hendricks off the very first delivery of the game. It surely was a dream start for the Capitals as they were coming on the back of a defeat against the same opponents.

Skipper Faf du Plessis then fired up in the next over and hit opposition skipper Wayne Parnell for four consecutive fours. He then hit Bosch for a huge six off the next over, and in the meantime, Leus du Plooy too got into the business. The fireworks from Du Plessis continued, but Du Plooy’s time on the field came to an end shortly as Migael Pretorius handed Pretoria Capitals another breakthrough.

Faf du Plessis looked unstoppable as even after two wickets, he dominated the powerplay which resulted in the Super Kings clobbering 70 runs off the first six overs. Jimmy Neesham put curtains to his prowess and struck twice in the seventh over before picking up his third in the ninth over. The seasoned Anrich Nortje too picked up three wickets as the Super Kings’ innings came crashing down in the 16th over, and they finished at 122/10.

Pretoria Capitals’ openers Will Jacks and Philip Salt got to business from the very first over. Chasing a low total of 123 runs, they aimed for the big shots from the beginning and amassed 42 runs in the first three overs. Nandre Burger dismissed Jacks, and confusion between Theunis de Bruyn and Salt led to the former being runout.

Rilee Rossouw charged up as soon as he took the field, but was dismissed after scoring a six and a four. Phil Salt and Shane Dadswell then stitched up a 51-run stand which led Pretoria Capitals to clinch a dominating six-wicket victory over the Super Kings. With the win, they also jumped to top position in the points table.
