Indiaโs winning juggernaut continued in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they beat England by 100 runs on Sunday, October 29 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. After being put in to bat first, India posted a fighting total of 229/9 in their allotted 50 overs as captain Rohit Sharma top-scored with 87 (101). In reply, England were bundled out for just 129 in 34.5 overs as Mohammed Shami picked four wickets.
England got off to a steady start in their chase as opener Jonny Bairstow (14 off 23) and Dawid Malan (16 off 17) added 30 runs for the first wicket off 29 balls. However, Jasprit Bumrah brought India back into the game by dismissing Maland and Joe Root (0 off 1) off consecutive deliveries.
Mohammed Shami also got into the act as he got the prized scalps of Ben Stokes (0 off 10) and Bairstow to leave England reeling at 39/4 after 9.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav also joined the party as he outfoxed the England captain Jos Buttler and annihilated his stumps with a vicious delivery. After losing their skipper, all hopes were lost for England as they got all out for 129.

Seeing his team in trouble captain Rohit Sharma (87 off 101) and KL Rahul (39 off 58) added 91 runs for the fourth wicket. Following their dismissals, Suryakumar Yadav (49 off 47) helped India cross the 200-run mark.

A Rohit masterclass on a tricky surface and a fantastic all-round bowling performance with Shami and Bumrah in the forefront! Sky was brilliant towards the second half of the innings and the spin twins were spot on. This was another tremendous win for the ##IndianCricketTeam whoโฆ pic.twitter.com/EJ6RulEpni

One of the best parts about India's WC campaign so far has been the control and accuracy of the bowling unit. Kept opposition to below par scores throughout. These two were again exceptional today! Just what you want defending a low score. Well bowled ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ #INDvENG #CWC2023 pic.twitter.com/sEtaUNH2PV
