WPL 2024: Top 10 Memes from DEL-W vs BAN-W, Final

The final of the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) featured a clash between Delhi Capitals women and Royal Challengers Bangalore women at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, March 17. Both sides worked vigorously to reach the summit clash of the tournament. 

The clash began with Delhi Capitals coming in to bat first after winning the toss. The side got off to a good start as openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma scored 23 and 44 runs, respectively. However, the rest of the batters could not amount to much.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey departed on ducks, Marizanne Kapp added eight runs on the board, with Jess Jonassen scoring three. Furthermore, Radha Yadav scored 12 runs, and Arundhati Reddy added 10 runs on the board, as Delhi Capitals posted a total of 113 runs on the board in the first innings. 

As for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Shreyanka Patil was the highest wicket-taker, with four wickets to her name. Sophie Molineux took three wickets, with Asha Sobhana striking twice.

Aiming to chase down the target of 114 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore women got off to a good start as openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine scored 31 and 32 runs, respectively. Furthermore, after their dismissal, the job was completed by the in-form Ellyse Perry. 

As for Delhi Capitals women, Shikha Pandey and Minnu Mani were the only wicket-takers with one wicket to their names. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore scripted history as Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh propelled the side to a magnificent win. Perry scored 35* runs in 37 deliveries, with Ghosh staying unbeaten on a score of 17 as Bangalore defeated Delhi by eight wickets to lift their maiden WPL title.
