Twitter Reactions: David Warner powers SRH to first win of the season

One could see it right at the auctions that the Sunrisers Hyderabad had picked a bowling heavy team and that actually lacked backup batsmen, but such has been the trend in the franchise that they like to bank on the big boys they have and leave the rest to their bowler. The pocket-size dynamo David Warner who is also the skipper of the team exploded tonight and propelled his team to their first victory in the league.
Warner won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first; there was some purchase for the bowlers and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave SRH a great start removing debutant Martin Guptill with just a couple of runs on the board. His partner Barinder Sran got the better of Parthiv Patel with a back of the hand slower one that moved in and castled his stumps. Mumbai kept loosing wickets regularly and it was on the back of a 63-run stand between Ambati Rayudu who was sent in at no.3 instead of Hardik Panya this time and the elder Pandya brother Krunal that set them up for a mediocre total. Rayudu perished on 54 in the 18th over. Krunal carried on and was unbeaten on 49; at the end of 20 over, all MI managed was 142.
They weren’t up chasing a huge total and was probably the best time for Shikhar Dhawan to get some runs under his belt, but he was undone by a stupendous, late, inswinging yorker by Tim Southee. His middle stump was out of the ground and there was little he could have done about it, even on a better day. Skipper David Warner did what he does the best and counterattacked, the only way for MI to win this one was to bowl SRH out, but till the time, Warner stayed there it wasn’t going to be easy. The Mumbai bowlers did manage another couple of wickets but the Aussie southpaw stayed there till the end and made sure his team registered first points on the table on the back of his unbeaten 90.
