Twitter Reactions: DC's Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada stamp their authority on hapless RCB
Only Kohli batted well for RCB scoring 43 runs as RCB could only score 137 in reply to Delhi Capitals' 196.

Delhi Capitals (DC) seem to be a team to beat in this Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Although they lost the previous game, the team proved that it was only a blip and came back strongly to beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 59 runs. It was a brilliant effort with the bat first and then Kagiso Rabada took over to pick four wickets to assert their domination over the opposition
After being invited to bat first, DC were propelled by Marcus Stoinis who slammed an unbeaten 53 off just 26 balls. He came in to bat with the team in trouble at 90/3 in the 12th over and started to attack the opposition bowlers from the word go. The likes of Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj weren’t spared and Stoinis churned out some quick runs to leave RCB in shock as they were least expecting that sort of aggression.
Stoinis’ partnership of 89 runs with Rishabh Pant in around just seven overs and made sure that the team posted an above par total. The latter also looked good during his 25-ball 37-run knock while his Aussie partner remained unbeaten on 53 off 26 deliveries. However, things weren’t great when these two players joined hands. DC had botched up a good start losing wickets in quick succession.
Prithvi Shaw was at his best again giving the team a good start. Shikhar Dhawan also supported him well before Siraj broke the partnership with the former’s wicket. Shaw scored 42 off just 23 balls and Dhawan also did well to get to 32 before getting out. Shreyas Iyer also got out early to leave the team at 90/3. This is when Stoinis and Pant took over and helped the team get to 196 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.
RCB hurt with boom or bust approach
RCB have been boom or bust in the chase so far in the IPL this year. They earlier lost by 97 runs against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and they repeated a similar performance with the bat to worsen their net run-rate. A slow start put the pressure on the openers with Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch getting out in the first four overs.
The pressure of the required run-rate kept getting to the batsmen with even the likes of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali playing poor shots to get out. Virat Kohli, at the other end, looked good but had no momentum to his innings. He started off well with some crisp shots but consistent fall of wickets, kept him quiet every now and then he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the 14th over to officially seal the deal.
RCB, expectedly, collapsed after Kohli’s wicket and ended up throwing their wickets to Rabada who bowled with menace. He ended with the magical figures of 4/24 in his four overs while RCB could only reach 137 runs in their 20 overs to lose the game by 59 runs.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
.@DelhiCapitals really bowled well.
Smart bowling changes by @ShreyasIyer15 which didn’t allow the batsmen to get off to flying starts.@RCBTweets has a good batting line-up but were completely outplayed today.#DCvRCB #IPL2020— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) October 5, 2020
#DelhiCapitals at the top of the table. Won the match by a quite a margin. Stoinis has made such a difference to this side. Also….think about it…if #IPL2020 happened in April, Rabada might not have played in the first few weeks. Luck is not fictional.

"Chris Morris was really close to make the playing XI tonight, we've 4 days gap between next game so once Chris is back it'll be different balance team for us." – Virat Kohli.

Bowls the Super Over for 2 runs and dismisses two batsmen. Came for an over and dismissed Russell at ‘Sharjah’. Here at Dubai…takes Kohli’s wicket in the first over of his new spell. Rabada is the best fast bowler in #IPL2020. #DelhiCapitals

15th dismissal in the IPL for Rishabh Pant and Kagiso Rabada pair; the most number of catches taken by a keeper off a bowler in IPL history. #IPL2020 #RCBvDC

Delhi has won like a table topper. A 59 runs win against in form RCB means, they should be first to make it to play off.#DCvsRCB #RCBvDC #IPL2020
