Prior to their match against Khulan Titans at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka Dynamites had lost five matches in a row and the game was a do-or-die for them. However, Shakib Al Hasan’s men held their nerve and won the match by six wickets to progress to the playoffs. They got tied on 12 points with Rajshahi Kings but went through courtesy of a better Net Run Rate (NRR).
Dhaka bowlers dictate terms
The Titans didn’t get off to the best of starts after electing to bat first. Both their openers perished inside the first four overs. Taylor scored 18 and he became Shakib’s first victim. Rubel Hossain got rid of Junaid Siddique and Dawid Malan. Mahmudullah faltered as well and was castled by 19-year-old left-arm seamer Qazi Onik. Nazmul Hossain Shanto looked good and notched 24 runs.
Sunil Narine opened his wickets’ column, getting rid of Al Amin. Nevertheless, David Wiese flung the willow to good effect and took the Titans to 123 in 20 overs. The South African scored 30 runs from 27 deliveries with one four and one over-boundary. Taijul Islam also added 11 valuable runs. Rubel and Shakib were the Dynamites’ most successful bowler with a couple of wickets apiece.
Tharanga leads the run chase
Sunil Narine went hammer and tongs right from the outset and made sure that the Titans’ didn’t have any chance of making a comeback. The left-hander raced away to 35 runs from a mere 13 balls with two fours and four sixes. Saddam Hossain nipped him out in the third over. At the other end, Upul Tharanga blended caution with aggression and carried on the good work by Narine.
Shakib would be disappointed as he got out for one to Mahmudullah. Taijul Islam picked up Mizanur Rahman to pick up the fourth Dynamites’ wicket. Tharanga perished after scoring 42 runs from 30 balls with four boundaries and a couple of sixes. In the end, Nurul Hasan Sohan added 27 from 26 balls and saw his team through to victory with Kieron Pollard at the other end.

@khulnatitans is finally free from their disastrous season of BPL. Hope next season they will not participate in BPL and make the people of Khulna ashamed. #BPL2019#KhulnaTitans
