The much anticipated India v Pakistan game at Mirpur finally kicked off with a full house. MS Dhoni won the toss and went in to bowl first owing to the green track and dew factor.

However, the first innings turned out to be a very sour outing for the Men in Green as they lost more than half of the side before reaching the fifty runs mark. The Pakistan batting lineup, which wore a slight new look today, was totally ransacked by the Indian bowling attack.

The young-old pair of Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah started out brilliantly and pressed them under their thumb right from the first ball. Nehra made Mohammad Hafeez depart in the first over. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a lively second over and then got rid of the uncomfortable Sharjeel Khan in his subsequent over. Pakistan lost their third after Khurram Manzoor was run out after a mix-up with Shoaib Malik. Ther was no respite for Pakistan as first change bowler Hardik Pandya also made an impact after he struck with the wicket of the experienced Malik in his first over.

Yuvraj Singh replaced Bumrah and gave a double blow with the wickets of Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi off the first and the last ball of the 7th over respectively. While Akmal was out LBW, Afridi was run out by the brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja. Pakistan nosedived to 42/6 in just 8 over and sunk deeper in trouble after Wahab Riaz lost his wicket to Jadeja. Sarfraz Ahmed (25 from 24 balls) batted sensibly but could not help Pakistan very much as Ravindra Jadeja again made his presence felt by dismissing him.

Pakistan benefitted with few extras but the tailenders could not last very long. Eventually, Pakistan was bowled out for 83 without playing the full quota of 20 overs.
