If match 1 wasn’t a complete indication of the difference between the two teams the second made it extremely evident. Team India made a whole lot of changes in the XI and despite that first managed to post a huge total – 213/4 on the board. Ireland in response were extremely ordinary and were bowled out for 70 runs in 12.3 overs. The Indian team thus registered their biggest margin of victory in the format to take the series 2-0.
The Irish captain Gary Wilson won the toss and once again asked India to bat first. The visitors handed Siddarth Kaul his India cap and there was no MS Dhoni in the XI as the veteran was rested and Dinesh Karthik kept wickets.
Virat Kohli opened the batting with his former IPL opening partner KL Rahul who was included in Shikhar Dhawan’s place. Kohli contributed just 9 runs to the team total before getting out caught in the deep. Rahul carried on his Indian Premier League (IPL) form and played some unbelievable shots, hitting the ball over the ropes than to it more often than not. Suresh Raina who walked in at No.3 also enjoyed batting on this wicket as the Irish bowlers could hardly challenge them. They had a 106-run partnership for the 2nd wicket.
Rahul scored a magnificent half century absolutely punishing the bowlers smashing six sixes in the fifty that he scored in double quick time. He was dismissed by Kevin O’Brien, for 70 off 36 balls. O’Brien also got rid of Rohit Sharma for a duck.
Raina also got to his fifty but was out for 69 from 45 in the 18th over. The team still needed a final flourish to get over the 200-run mark. It was Hardik Pandya who put up a swashbuckling batting display of shot-making and they got to the desired target. He dealt in sixes and hit 4 sixes from the 9 he faced. He scored 32 runs and took them to 213/4 in 20 overs.
Ireland’s batting inning had absolutely no highlight. Umesh Yadav who was included in the Indian T20I team after 6 years got rid of Paul Stirling in the very first over. He cleaned up their next best batsman William Porterfield in his next and Ireland were already out of the game. Umesh’s partner Siddarth Kaul also got his maiden wicket removing Shannon for 2.
Once the spin-twin was in the attack it was a sorry story for the Irish. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal shared 6 wickets between them in 6.3 overs and it was a bit too much for the home team to handle as they were bundled out for just 70 runs and suffered a huge 143-run defeat.

Early wickets are the most valuable wickets in T20 cricket & in 2018 no bowler is more effective at striking in the Powerplay than Umesh Yadav. Among bowlers to have bowled 20 Powerplay overs this year Umesh's strike rate of 12.30 is comfortably the lowest. #IrevInd pic.twitter.com/FExMNOYNE4

If India select sides well the series vs England should be a cracking one.

Rahul is a special player…India must find a way to keep him in the XI in all three formats. My vote for him to bat at #4 in ODI. #IREvIND #EngvIND

Heavy bit of Irish slang by William Porterfield caught by the stump mic after being bowled by Umesh Yadav…. pic.twitter.com/MsOxhfrmwI

No team has enough talent to squander the form KL Rahul is in. If he is not the third name pencilled onto the India team sheet, either we are the greatest team in history, or the most delusional!
