Indian Premier League auction went from good to outrageously surprising for some of the players. There were records broken as well while some players were disappointed. The first round of auction saw some players become millionaires within minutes.

This year’s auction just went right for all the England players. Two of the eight British players, though, stole the light. They absolutely smashed the previous records held for the costliest players. Ben Stokes and Tymal Mills being under the spotlight. Ben was signed for an insane INR 14.5 crores by the Rising Pune Supergiants. However, it was Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad who were in the hunt to sign the England all-rounder but the Supergiants came out of nowhere to bid for 13.5 crores and later upped it to 14.5 crores to finally land him.

Tyler Mills who bowled extremely well during the tour of India was based at a mere price of INR 50 lakh. Richard Madley, the auctioneer for the day had called him smart for basing himself at such a low price and he was right. There was a huge bidding war for the man who almost could have been a sports journalist. He was then bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whooping INR 12 crores, making him the most expensive bowler in the IPL history.

There were other surprises too as two of the Afghanistan players landed a deal. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi were picked for a respectable amount. Rashid went to the Mumbai Indians for 4 crore while Nabi, the all-rounder, will don black and orange of the Sunrisers Hyderabad; he was sold for 30 lakhs. The 21-year-old South African Kagiso Rabada also landed himself a huge deal worth rupees 5 crore and will play for the Delhi Daredevils. Pawan Negi, who got himself an 8 crore deal last auction was bought cheaply this time around by the Royal Challengers Bangalore; RCB bought him for 1 crore.

The England skipper, Eoin Morgan was bought for 2 crores by KXIP. As Jason Roy and Chris Jordan also bagged themselves a deal. They were picked by Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.

Karn Sharma became the costliest Indian at the auction for INR 3.2 crores by the men in blue, Mumbai Indians. While there were a lot of England players who made it to the news, Indian players had a quiet outing. Irfan Pathan, Ishant Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara were among the big names who missed out this time around.

Twitterati went crazy after Ben Stokes was sold for such an amount. There were a host of memes coming out. The older memes saw their rebirth while there were some congratulatory tweets as well. Here are some of the best Twitter reactions of this IPL auction.

Excited to be part of @officialdaredevils for the 2017 IPL!
