Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq pulled his team to a strong position as he scored a ton on his first day of the Lord’s Test. With that he became the oldest Test centurion in 82 years and the oldest captain to score a Test century ever.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a decent total of 282 for 6 at stumps on Day 1 with Test skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq, remaining unbeaten on 110. The visitors would want to stretch it as much as they can. The Pakistani skipper had at the toss said that the first innings is the best time to bat at Lord’s.
After completing his century, he saluted posing towards the pavilion, dropped to his knees, and proceeded to do ten push-ups, which he later revealed that the gesture was a promise he had made to the army guys.
“We did a camp in Abbottabad before the skill camp in Lahore, and we used to do an honour code every time, we just stepped into the ground and did ten push-ups. And I promised them, if ever I score a hundred, I will definitely do that to remind you that we were there,” Misbah said afterwards.

It was a great moment for the most successful Test skipper from Pakistan and he has once again taken all the responsibility of his side on his shoulders. When Misbah arrived at the crease, Pakistan was in a spot of bother at 77/3. He then had a couple of good partnerships with veteran batsman Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq.
He is easily the best batsman from Pakistan in recent times and his century saw social media go crazy. Following his century, Twitter was flooded with wishes from all over the world congratulating the Pakistani Test skipper for contributing for his team steady position.

That's brilliant batting from Misbah! Playing to his strengths, soaking it up from the seamers and attacking the spinners? #ENGvPAK
