Ravindra Jadeja was at his all-round best on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka as India are well in command of the game. The all-rounder, who was unbeaten at 45 at stumps on the first day, paced his knock to perfection and scored runs for fun. Jadeja even went on to score his second Test century and looked all set to slam a double hundred.

However, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma declared the innings when the southpaw was at 175. Nonetheless, his sensational meant Indian ended their first innings at 574/8. In reply, Sri Lankan top-order batters did showcase some resilience but threw away their starts.

As a result, the visitors were 108/4 at stumps on Day 2, trailing by 466 runs. Considering the current proceedings of the game, India are well in command. However, the surface is still pretty good for batters and Sri Lanka have substantial chances of scripting a fight back.

Earlier in the day, India resumed at their overnight score of 357/6. While Rishabh Pant’s blazing 96 stole the show on Day 1, the second day belonged to another left-hander, Ravindra Jadeja. The 33-year-old was positive from the outset as Sri Lankan bowlers looked utterly clueless against him. He received substantial support from fellow all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored a handy 61.

The duo added 130 runs for the seventh wicket as India went past 450. Meanwhile, Jadeja got the three-figure and he remembered legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne, who passed away on March 4, after getting the milestone. His fireworks didn’t end as he breached the 150-run mark. Jadeja’s double ton also looked on the cards but Rohit decided to call him back at 175 not out.

In reply of India’s 574/8, Sri Lanka started off well with openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne adding 48 runs for the first wicket. However, the Ashwin-Jadeja combo then came in action as Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals. The visitors ended the day at 108/4, and they have a lot of work to do.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to the proceedings of Day 2:
