Shikhar Dhawan made a decent start to the year, but he gradually lost his form as the year progressed. He was one of the leading run-scorers in 2018 in the 50-overs format and a lot was expected of him in this year as well. However, he couldn’t carry on with the good beginning and kept floundering to one failure and the other, much to the concerns of the Indian team.

He is currently playing the five-match ODI series against Australia. In the first three matches in Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Ranchi, he looked out of sorts and got out cheaply. The left-hander looked determined in the second game but got out to part-timer Glenn Maxwell. However, the fourth game of the series has turned out to be a memorable outing for him.

Dhawan dictates terms

The Delhi-born was in tremendous pressure to perform. However, didn’t succumb to it and rather accomplished a well-crafted century at the renowned PCA Stadium in Mohali. The experienced campaigner started on a positive note with a flurry of boundaries even as Rohit Sharma, on the other end, took his time to get his eye in and get the measure of the conditions.

Dhawan went on to score his half-century in 44 deliveries. The 33-year-old kept picking up the singles and also churned out the odd boundary here and there. The best part of the knock was that he didn’t resort to any undue risks as the Aussie bowlers tried their hearts out. Shikhar Dhawan marched ahead and racked up a stupendously-crafted century in 97 deliveries.

In the last ball of the 32nd over, Dhawan played a paddled shot down to the fine leg region off Adam Zampa and the leather raced away to the boundary. The left-hander would’ve breathed a sigh of relief. He also set up an incredible opening stand of 193 runs from 31 overs. In the meantime, the same Twitterati, who wanted Dhawan to be dropped, bowed down and praised him.

Here is how Twitterati praised Dhawan
