The marathon unbeaten partnership of 301 runs between Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh has put Australia in a commanding position of the third Ashes Test. The last Test match at the WACA is proving out to be a record-breaking one as the duo shattered record with their magnificent partnership. The day also saw the second Ashes double ton from Smith as his partner Marsh also closed in on his maiden double century after scoring his first ever Test ton earlier in the day. However, Twitter followed the game closely throughout the day and hailed them while trolling the England bowlers brutally.

The day started on even terms as the hosts were still 200 runs away from the first innings score posted by their opponents. The first major thing to happen on the day was the 22nd century of the skipper Smith who looked in amazing touch on the second day itself. He continued from there on even as Moeen Ali scalped Shaun Marsh, the other overnight batsman. The success was the only one for the visitors as they toiled whole day thereafter.

Smith-Marsh duo punish England

Mitchell Marsh, making his comeback to the Test side, batted with so much assurance and gave his skipper the confidence after the key wicket of Shaun. Both denied England any wicket further in the day and batted beautifully. Mitchell was in the mood to go berserk and didn’t take any pressure by hitting consistent boundaries off clueless England bowlers. In the process, he also brought up his maiden Test century in the 22nd Test match of his career on his home ground as his father Geoff Marsh and brother Shaun Marsh both applauded proudly.

It was Steve Smith then who brought up his second double-ton and celebrated it in a wonderful manner. He didn’t look like getting out even as his partner pressed on the accelerator button. They also crossed the huge stand put on by Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow on either side of the first couple of days. The lead had grown up to 146 runs by the end of the day as Mitchell Marsh looked set to notch up his maiden double-century in whites.

Twitterati elated to the swashbuckling tons and double tons scored by the Aussie batsmen and also didn’t miss out on the opportunity to troll the England bowlers who were bereft of ideas by the time the last session had begun. It’s tough for England now to win the game and it would be a tough ask as well to save the match unless the predicted forecast of rain in the last two days come true.
