The much-hyped Group B clash between Indian and South Africa finally took place at Kennington Oval, London as the two teams hoped to book their berth in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. Lot was expected as the two heavyweights of International cricket clashed in a do-or-die contest. As it turned out, India went ahead with clinical performances and dismissed South Africa within the allotted 50 overs.

The match started off on a different tone for the Indian fans as many did not agree with Kohli’s decision to leave out Umesh Yadav and include Ravichandran Ashwin. India after winning the toss elected to field first, backing their ability to chase down the total set by the South Africans.

After a slow start, Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla finally started to flex their muscles which gave ominous signs for Virat Kohli and co. Quinton de Kock has had an incredible record against the Indians in the past as he has scored 5 tons in 9 innings he has played against them at an average of 74. He impressed yet again as he was set to play another monumental knock for his team before he was dismissed on 53 by a beauty from Ravindra Jadeja.

It was Ashwin who initiated the flurry of wickets by taking the wicket of Amla. Faf Du Plessis ran out two other mates of his by the names of AB de Villiers and David Miller. In total, there were three run outs in the innings and du Plessis was involved in two of them much to the delight of the Twitterverse. The run-out between David Miller and Faf du Plessis went viral all over social media. From a solid position of 116-1, South African were bundled out within the 45th over and could only manage a total of 191.
