Right-handed batsman AB de Villiers is deemed to be one of the most dynamic cricketers South Africa have ever produced. He made his international debut back in 2004 and hasn’t looked back ever since. He has carved a reputation as someone who can tread the attacking route at will and also buckle down to play a substantial knock for his team in the hour of need.

Moreover, the Pretoria-born batsman is among the most loved cricketers owing to his humble nature as an individual. However, he announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket earlier in May citing tiredness as a primary reason for stepping down. The veteran has over 19,000 runs for the Proteas to go with 47 centuries and 109 half-centuries.

De Villiers to play PSL?

Nevertheless, the 34-year-old will continue playing domestic T20 tournaments around the globe. Among overseas T20 leagues, de Villiers has played in the Indian Premier League and the Caribbean Premier League. He made his IPL debut for the Delhi Daredevils back in 2008 and then went on to play for the Virat Kohli-captained Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The right-handed batsman represented the Barbados Tridents in the CPL. He will next be seen as the non-playing ambassador of the T20X event in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December. In the meantime, he is yet to ply his trade in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Recently, the official Twitter handle of the tournament chipped in with a surprise for its fans but didn’t reveal the same.

They wrote, “Your League has a surprise for you and it will be massive. Can you guess what is in the box? #PakistanSuperLeague.”

Meanwhile, the social media users made their guesswork and reckon that the surprise is in the form of AB de Villiers participation in the tournament.
