Virat Kohli has been going through a purple patch and has been able to hemorrhage runs at will over the past few months. He has effortlessly been India’s best bet with the willow in all formats of the game. He has thrived underplaying in different conditions and has been exceptional with the bat. The Indian skipper has also been in prime form in India’s ongoing tour of South Africa.

Combining Tests and One Day Internationals, Kohli currently has three tons to his name in the tour. After his anti-climactic ton in Pretoria, Kohli has translated the form in the 50-over format as well. He played a sterling knock in Durban to open India’s account in the ODI series following which he played another match-winning knock at the Newlands in Cape Town to help India take an unassailable lead.

He scored 160 runs off 159 balls, which included 12 boundaries and two massive sixes. He took charge after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal in the first over and batted till the very end. Meanwhile, he also racked up his 34th century in ODIs. His knock guided India past the 300-run mark which eventually turned out to be a far cry for Aiden Markram’s men. India subsequently thumped the Proteas by 124 runs.

Virat Kohli’s comparison with Sachin Tendulkar has been an age-old debate and his batting masterclass at the Wanderers sparked the debate yet again. From former cricketers and commoners, several people have shared their views on the comparisons between the two legends. Most recently, Michael Vaughan, the former English skipper, also took to Twitter and expressed his opinions.

After he shared the message, Twitter was divided in their views. While some hailed Vaughan’s comments, some regarded Tendulkar as the greatest ever to have played the game.
