Twitterati don't understand the logic of the umpires who called lunch when India needed 2 runs to win
Both the teams weren't sure about the need for the break while fans decided to leave the stadium.

It is not often that a one-sided match has much drama to serve the fans. However, the second ODI between India and South Africa was in no way short on entertainment. When the Indian team needed a target of 119 runs the umpires decided to continue the game immediately after South Africa were bowled out. It was only justified because only 33 overs were played until that point.
As play continued, India were 20 odd runs short of the target in the designated 15 overs of play before lunch break The umpires then decided to extend the innings by four overs. After the completion of 19 overs, India still needed two runs to win the game. At this juncture, they had another call to take and now they thought it was necessary to call for lunch.
Indian captain Virat Kohli who was at the crease wasn’t pleased with the decision. Even the South African players on the field were perplexed. The commentators were also shocked as they criticised the call with just a couple of runs needed. Michael Holding raised his voice in the commentary box against the weird decision and so did everyone else who talked about it.
However, according to the ICC rules, they had already been given an extension of four overs. Twitterati wasn’t quite impressed and they started to draw in all types of comparisons. While the audience at the stadium was surely pissed off, the fans on Twitter certainly didn’t lose any opportunity to make fun of umpires.
The South African fielders, as well as the Indian batsmen, walked out after a 40 minutes break to complete the target. Tabraiz Shamsi bowled a maiden over as India seemed in no hurry to wrap the game up. Kohli scored the last couple of runs in the next over as India won the game with utmost ease.
Here are some of the hilarious Twitter reactions:

Sure, this break in play isn't ideal. But the caterers have to be respected. You can only reheat a mutton curry for so long… #SAvIND

As India has batted for just 19 overs, IF it rains heavily during the lunch break and no further play is possible, the match will be a no result. Archaic rules for Lunch and DLS. ?????? #SAvInd

Cricket umpires are told by ICC to never use their common sense so we can’t really blame umpires here. They don’t want to lose their jobs.

Rules are to be followed but not at the cost of common sense. By the time they are back, the ground will be mostly empty.
