Team India is currently bossing the ongoing Test match at Edgbaston. Their bowlers have bowled exceptionally well on the third day and in the process are only three wickets away from bundling them out to a low total. The fact that the lower order is troubling them is due to the dropped catches at slip by Shikhar Dhawan. The left-hander has spilt two catches, one each of Sam Curran and Adil Rashid, and Twitterati is not at all pleased with his efforts.

Ishant Sharma’s sensational triple-wicket over had left the hosts reeling at 87/7 at one stage and the visitors had begun to entertain the thoughts of skittling them out early. But Curran and Rashid batted beautifully and stitched a partnership of 48 runs for the eighth wicket. They extended their lead and took it close to 150 which now looks a decent one given the conditions on offer.

Dhawan’s miserable catching

Shikhar Dhawan was slow to react at the first slip when Mohammed Shami found the edge of Sam Curran’s bat. The ball carried low to him and went for four runs as he couldn’t get down fast. Curran was 13 then and is still batting on 33.

Then in the 41st over, Umesh Yadav bowled a beautiful outswinger and enticed a drive from Rashid. This was an even simpler catch as he edged but Dhawan was surprised and dropped the catch much to the amusement of England fans.

To add to his woes, Dhawan is also in the middle of a poor form with the bat. After bagging a pair in the only warm-up game against Essex, he could only muster 26 runs in the first innings and was dismissed by Sam Curran. He will have to play cautiously in the second innings and score enough runs in what is going to be a tricky chase for the visitors.

Here’s how they reacted:
