Twitterati poke fun at Sourav Ganguly after his past rumoured girlfriend Nagma wished him on birthday

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricketer, turned 48 years old on Wednesday, July 8. He made his Test debut at the Lord’s back in 1996 and from there on, he didn’t look back. The Prince of Kolkata turned out to be one of India’s most successful captains and also led them to the final of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. He also managed to torment oppositions with the bat in hand.

Currently, he is the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He has been lauded for his tireless efforts and his contributions towards Indian cricket. It didn’t spring a surprise that the cricketing fraternity gathered to wish Ganguly on his birthday. The likes of Virat Kohli and many others took to Twitter and Instagram to express their gratitude towards Dada.

Nagma wishes Ganguly

In the meantime, actor Nagma Morarji also wished the Bengal-born Ganguly on the auspicious occasion. Interestingly, Nagma and Sourav were said to be in a relationship a couple of decades ago. During an interview she indirectly talked about being in a relation with the former Indian skipper. She also revealed the reasons why the duo had to part ways.

“Whatever one says, nobody has denied anything. As long as there is no denial of each other’s existence in each other’s life, any person can say anything they want. There was a career at stake, besides other things, so one had to part. One had to weigh a lot of things, rather than be on an ego trip and insist on being together,” the 45-year-old Nagma was quoted as saying.

Nagma has featured in a number of Hindi, Tamil and Telugu movies and is currently an Indian politician. As far as Ganguly is concerned, she tied the knots with Dona Ganguly on 21 February 1997. Four years later, the couple gave birth to their daughter and named her Sana. On the field, Ganguly retired back in 2008 after the home Test series against Australia.
