He just had one five-wicket haul on the entire tour of England to speak about. And when Hardik Pandya shared a picture of his new stylish look on social media after India’s humiliating 1-4 loss, Twitterati was in no mood to spare him. Something similar to what they did to KL Rahul for posting stylish pictures even as his on-the-field show continued to plummet, the fans pounced upon the all-rounder and trolled him mercilessly.
Pandya had a difficult time during the Test series with critics ridiculing his comparison with legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev. The 24-year-old cricketer had just one opportunity to hit back after he took a fifer in the third Test at Trent Bridge. But he failed to back it up with another similar performance in the crucial fourth Test and was eventually dropped in the fifth game where India chose to go with six specialist batsmen.
The 24-year-old scored 164 runs in eight innings in the series with just one recognizable knock which was an unbeaten 52. In the first Test, he was not even called in to bowl in the second innings and he took a total of 10 wickets in six innings. Barring the fifer, he took one wicket per innings on an average.
Pandya is now preparing for the Asia Cup due to start on Saturday and he will be one of the senior players expected to do well. In a tweet on Wednesday, the Baroda cricketer wrote: “Back to India gutted with the result but it was a well-fought series and good to be back home for a couple of days before we fly again for Asia cup in few days time !”

Though the tweet was liked 12,000 times, Pandya came under heavy trolling. The fans tweeted saying his selfie displaying a new haircut and a pair of stylish glasses and fancy wearable in hand did not make him look like “gutted”.
Here is how the Twitterati reacted to Pandya’s selfie:
