Indian fans looked on in bewilderment on Sunday as their favourite players walked out to bat and retired to the pavilion almost the next second. While there are plenty of reasons behind how and where the Indian team went wrong, it was the no-ball by Jasprit Bumrah that clinically killed any minuscule chance that India might have had at winning the game. Consequently, Twitterati unleashed a brutal attack on the pacer for his slip-up.

Having won the Test series by a 1-0 margin, India would’ve stepped on to the field bursting with confidence. But the game turned on its head when they were bowled out for a paltry total of 112 runs. Sri Lanka eventually won the match by a whopping 7-wicket margin.

Bowls no-ball, troll tweets pour in

India’s innings fell apart from the get-go as the top five batsmen were sent packing for a total of just 13 runs amongst themselves. It was former captain, MS Dhoni (65) who put in a valiant effort to haul the team to a three-figure total. Although this total could’ve never been enough to get a victory, things started looking up for the Indians when they dismissed Lahiru Thirimanne (0) and Danushka Gunathilaka (1) in quick succession.

But it all went topsy-turvy when pacer, Bumrah bowled a gaping illegal delivery. As fate would have it, it was the same delivery on which Upul Tharanga got an edge and was caught behind by Dinesh Karthik in the slips. However, the wicket was not to be as replays showed no part of Bumrah’s foot had been behind the line.

As a result, India didn’t get the third scalp as they would’ve hoped for and with that missed chance, the chances of India winning went for a toss. Users at the micro-blogging site, Twitter mercilessly trolled Bumrah for his no-ball as tweet after tweet poured in.
