As the World Cup fever is gripping the entire country, Nike, Team India’s kit manufacturers, launched the new jersey on March 1. The BCCI and Nike launched the jersey in Hyderabad on the sidelines of the team’s practice for the first One Day International against Australia. The event was attended by seniors as well as youngsters. From the men’s team, skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Prithvi Shaw attended the event while Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues represented the women’s team.
The global sports apparel giants did not bring about too big a change in the jersey, thus keeping the essence of the jersey that has given the team their nickname Men in Blue. Consequently, the team’s primary colour will be blue when the don the new jersey. Virat Kohli & Co. will be donning the new jersey in the upcoming five-match ODI series against Australia, starting on March 2 in Hyderabad.
A first look at the jersey is bound to make anyone question the new changes. However, a closer look will reveal the finer details. The new jersey has fewer shades of saffron while India is written much bolder than title sponsor logo in front. The sleeves are a lighter shade of blue when compared to the rest of the jersey. The jersey has been made from recycled material once again. The jersey launched before the 2015 World Cup was also made with recycled bottles.
There is also another notable change in the new kit. Usually, three stars were sewn above the BCCI logo in front, representing the three World Cups India have won. However, in the new jersey, the three stars can be found at the back of the jersey. The new jersey, however, has not impressed the fans as they took to Twitter in numbers to vent their anger and frustration.

👎👎 The font of "INDIA" especially. The original Jersey itself looks like a counterfeit.
