After the major disappointment in the Test series against Pakistan, Australia now will be switching to the shortest format of the game. They are set to play Pakistan in a three-match T20I series. The Aussies will definitely want to ameliorate their performance in the shorter format. However, before they do that, they will be facing the host nation for a one-off T20I.
The game between the United Arab Emirates and Australia will be played on Monday. The visitors will be looking at this game to get their combinations right. Also, it will help the players switch to the T20 power-hitting mode and get some confidence going into the Pakistan series.
For the UAE, of course, it will be a wonderful opportunity to show to the world what they’ve got. The team was phenomenal in the Asia Cup Qualifiers although they narrowly missed out on making it to the main tournament. The side looks to be in great spirits and will be eyeing at nothing but an upset for the visitors.
United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates will look at this game as an opportunity to stun the world with their show. They have some experienced players like Rohan Mustafa, Chirag Suri, Shaiman Anwar. Mohammad Naveed is in the T20 mode and will look to bowl some miserly four overs like he did in the APL this season.
Predicted XI: Ashfaq Ahmed, Chirag Suri, Rohan Mustafa(c), Rameez Shahzad, Shaiman Anwar, Amjad Gul, Mohammad Naveed, Amir Hayat, Ghulam Shabber(wk), Ahmed Raza, Zahoor Khan
Australia will have a highly dominant top four in the form of D’Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch. Ben McDermott could be making his debut while Alex Carey will be the man behind the stumps. They will be looking to rest Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Nathan Lyon for the game. Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa will be the spinners in the side.
Predicted XI: D’Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch(c), Ben McDermott, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey(wk), Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa, Billy Stanlake.
Focus will be on
Chirag Suri (United Arab Emirates)
Chirag Suri will be the key for UAE with the bat. The batsman is in some good form and is scoring runs consistently. In the recently concluded Asia Cup Qualifiers, he scored 220 runs in six games. His side will want him to give them a good start right at the top.
Aaron Finch (Australia)
Skipper Aaron Finch looked to be in good touch in the Test series. He seems to have got a good knack of the conditions in the UAE. Being the dominant force that he is in T20 cricket, Finch will be a big threat for the hosts. The right-hander will be looking to blow the opposition away and get some good match practice under his belt.
