Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a busy time during the Auction for the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After releasing as many as 10 players ahead of IPL 2021, the franchise picked 8 players. One of the major highlights of the whole event was RCB picking Glenn Maxwell for a whopping amount of INR 14.25 crore.

Meanwhile, New Zealand pace all-rounder Kyle Jamieson leapfrogged Maxwell to become the most expensive buy of the Bangalore outfit during the IPL 2021 auction. RCB included New Zealand’s Jamieson in their squad by spending a massive amount of INR 15 crore.

Apart from Jamieson and Maxwell, RCB was successful in acquiring the services of Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Dan Christian, KS Bharat, Suyash Prabhudessai. While Christian earned INR 4.8 crore, Azharuddeen, Sachin, Rajat, KS and Suyash were picked for INR 20 lakh each.

Skipper Virat Kohli seemed impressed with the buys made by the team management as in a video posted on the official twitter handle of RCB, he expressed his satisfaction of making the right choices on the auction table and strengthening the squad. Virat is hopeful that they will be able to move in the right direction and will clinch their maiden IPL title this year.

Can’t wait to be back and get going for RCB: Virat Kohli

“Very happy with our buys and the results we had in the auction. We got what we wanted for the balance and the strength of our squad. Had a really good season last year. I truly believe that the new additions are going to propel us in the right direction forward and hopefully a couple of more steps further than last year,” Kohli said in the video.

Further in the video, Kohli lauded the RCB fans for always supporting the team and is hopeful of seeing the fans cheering the players from the stadium. IPL 2020 was conducted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah behind closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Just want to say once again, to the best fan base, we look forward to your support. Hopefully, we see a lot of you at the grounds in the IPL this year. Can’t wait to be back and get going for RCB. See you all soon,” the 32-year-old concluded.
